I have been with AMSTI-Athens since January 2008. I am a graduate of Judson College (1978) and University of Alabama (1996). My teaching career began in 1978 at Pickens Academy in Carrollton, Alabama. I returned home to Blount County in 1980 and began teaching at Locust Fork High School where I stayed until January of 2006. At that point, I became the secondary math specialist at the University of North Alabama, which led to this position at Athens State University. I was priveleged to be a part of the blue-ribbon committee that initiated AMSTI as a state initiative to improve math and science instruction in our state. I have a husband, David, and two daughters, Lindsay Sharp and Whitney Waid. In April, I will be a proud grandmother of Bryant Hudson Sharp.

My area of expertise is in secondary mathematics education, having taught high school and been affiliated with AMSTI for 31 years. As an AMSTI teacher, I trained sixth grade math teachers as well as other middle school trainers.
