Amy Lossie

  • Higher Ed: Science

Dr. Lossie was born and raised in western Michigan, where she developed a deep love of the water. She obtained her B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Lossie worked in mouse developmental genetics for several years after finishing her B.S. She then obtained a PhD in human genetics from the University of Florida, Gainesville, where she studied epigenetics and genomic imprinting. On the side, she spent every free moment snorkeling in the Keys. She next pursued her postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in the field of mouse genetics. In 2006, she accepted a faculty position at Purdue University in the Department of Animal Science. Dr. Lossie continues to study the epigenetics of mammalian development, with a focus on discerning how epigenetic factors contribute to miscarriage and stillbirth, and she continues to spend her free time snorkeling and diving.
