Sara Silverstone

Dr. Sara Silverstone holds a BS in Philosophy from SUNY Cortland and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of California at Davis. She conducted postdoctoral research in plant-microbe interactions in the department of Botany at the University of Maryland, College Park.
After 17 years of science teaching and research, Dr. Silverstone was appointed Director of the Rochester Area Colleges' Center for Excellence in Math and Science in 2007 and in 2011 she founded the Finger Lakes Regional Hub of the Empire State STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Learning Network. She has extensive experience with STEM education grants, having served as Principal Investigator and as External Evaluator on several National Science Foundation grants, as well as serving on several NSF peer review panels. She has served as a grant writing consultant on successful S-STEM, IUSE, MSP and Noyce Scholarship grants.
Dr. Silverstone has been engaged in independent research and grant writing since 1992 and grant evaluations since 2002. In 2013, Dr. Silverstone founded Brockport Research Institute to provide expertise in grant writing, evaluations, training, and project management in to clients in academia and education.
