PROFESSIONAL ROLES

BIO

I had been a hardcore particle/cosmic ray physicist with little interaction with the educational aspects of science (except of course as a student) for a dozen years until getting involved in SCALE and QED a couple years ago.
PhD: 1995, University of Pennsylvania; experimental neutrino physics; thesis on the LSND experiment
Post-doc at SUNY StonyBrook 1995-2002: more experimental neutrino physics on the Super-Kamiokande and K2K experiments (5 or so years living in Japan)
Tenure track asst prof.: 2002-present at CSU Dominguez Hills; continuing neutrino physics research; active cosmic ray research on the Chicos experiment; educational research on SCALE/QED; teaching a lot and loving it.

EXPERTISE

particle physics experiments
cosmic ray experiments
physics education
[minor expertise in:] facilitation of professional development for middle school science teachers
