Dan is currently the Secondary Science Expert, for Los Angeles Unified School District. Assigned to the California Math Science Partnership. Previously Dan was the liaison for Los Angeles Unified School District to SCALE and QED at California State University Dominguez Hills. Dan received MA: Educational Leadership and Policy Studies California State University at Northridge, and BA Biology from Humboldt State University. Teaching experience includes 18 years in the secondary science classrooms, grades 7 though 12, teaching biology, marine science, Chemistry and Environmental Science. For three years Dan was the Secondary Science Advisor at the Lowman Math Science Technology Center. Dan was a Co-PI on a Howard Hughes Medical Institute: Pre-college education Program at UCLA, providing summer research experiences for High School teacher/student teams in Biological Chemistry, Plant Physiology, and Molecular Biology. Dan was awarded numerous research fellowships for teachers including John H Wallace Fellowship from American Association of Immunologists. Dan is the co-author of "Sea Urchin Activities Manual. Industry initiatives in Mathematics and Science Education. (IISME). Center for Cancer and Developmental Biology, California State University Northridge. 1991, and the editor of the "Research Directors Handbook", vol 1 and 2 NSF Pub# ( ) Currently Dan is producing video podcasts and providing professional development for curricular materials that emphasize the development of student generated explanations using evidence derived from explorations in standards based content.
