I was born and raised in Georgia, and received my Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in Secondary Mathematics in 1980 from Georgia Southern College. I received my Master's Degree in Education in Secondary Mathematics in 1999 from the University of Georgia. I also received my National Board Certificate in 2004 in Adolescent and Young Adult Mathematics.

I am married to Gil Maddox, Jr. and we have three children ages 26, 24, and 20. 


I have 26 years of experience in secondary mathematics instruction, 21 of those years in high school and 5 in middle school. I spent the last 17 years at Cedar Shoals High School in Clarke County, Georgia, teaching all of the courses that were offered except for Calculus. I also was the PRISM Lead Teacher for Mathematics at Cedar Shoals High School from 2004-2006 where I led a professional learning community for algebra I.

I am currently the Mathematics Specialist for Northeast Georgia RESA for middle and high schools.
