BIO

EXPERTISE

Dr. Xiaodong Zhang is a senior study director with 15 years of experience in project management, education and methodological research, and program evaluation. He has strong skills in research design including experimental and quasi-experimental designs; statistical and psychometric analysis using techniques such as regression analysis, hierarchical linear modeling, factor analysis and meta analysis; and qualitative approaches such as interviews and case study. Dr. Zhang's research has covered elementary, secondary and postsecondary education, specifically in the areas of reading, mathematics and science learning, teacher preparation and compensation, assessment and accountability, as well as large-scale system educational reforms. At Westat, Dr. Zhang has been a project director and task leader for a variety of projects in education research funded by federal, state and local governments, as well as private foundations. In earlier work as a senior program officer at the Chinese Ministry of Education, he was involved in policymaking and program management at the national level and worked with public and private education organizations in North America.
