EXPERTISE

Dr. Xiaodong Zhang is a senior research scientist with 20 years of experience in project management, education and methodological research, and program evaluation. He has strong skills in research design including experimental and quasi-experimental designs; statistical and psychometric analysis using techniques such as regression analysis, hierarchical linear modeling, factor analysis and meta analysis; and qualitative approaches such as interviews and case study. Dr. Zhang's research has covered elementary, secondary and postsecondary education, specifically in the areas of reading, mathematics and science learning, teacher preparation and compensation, assessment and accountability, as well as large-scale system educational reforms. Dr. Zhang has been a project director and task leader for a variety of projects in education research funded by federal, state and local governments, as well as private foundations. Dr. Zhang has led many large scale projects including US Department of Educations Technical Assistance to Investing in Innovation (i3) program and National Science Foundations National Evaluation of Discovery Research K-12 (DR K-12).
