BIO

Dr. Margaret Small, K-12 Math Curriculum Specialist.
She has joined Buncombe County Schools after 25 years of teaching and leading in Chicago Public Schools. Dr. Small did her undergraduate work at Duke University and received her Masters of Science in Teaching Mathematics from the University
of Illinois, Chicago. In 2001, she recieved her PhD. in Curriculum and Instruction from UIC. 

EXPERTISE

Margaret is a strong advocate for equity and access in mathematics. She has designed and used a standards based student evaluation system. for information check out the web site http://www.easlinstitute.org.
Her best years as a classroom teacher were teaching the Interactive Mathematics Program.

Camille Farrington and Margaret Small co-authored a paper published as "A New Model of Student Assessment by the American Youth Policy Forum.
