Terry Joyner

BIO

Terry Baynard Joyner is the former Chief Academic Officer for Cincinnati Public Schools and served as a Co-PI of the PROM/SE Project. As Chief Academic Officer, she was primarily responsible for PK-12 curriculum development and implementation in all content areas. She supervised and coordinated the work of several departments: Curriculum and Instruction; Research, Evaluation and Testing; Early Childhood Education; Student Services; Professional Development; and NCLB federal programs. She represented Cincinnati Public as a member of the High (AIMS) Consortium whose mission is to provide high quality professional development in mathematics and science. Prior to coming to Cincinnati, Dr. Joyner served nine years as curriculum supervisor in Mathematics and Science and four years as an active participant in an NSF funded statewide initiative in elementary science in Delaware. She also served as Delaware's co-chair for writing K-8 grade-level Science indicators.

Terry attended the University of Delaware and the University of Maryland, College Park, receiving degrees in Elementary/Special Education and Education Administration. She completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Wilmington College in Delaware focusing on effective professional development and standards-based instruction for elementary mathematics. She enjoys volunteering and serving on several Advisory boards including American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education-PETE Project and Ohio Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
