BIO

Mary Lou has held the position of Director of Outreach for the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) at Auburn University since May 2000. Prior to this position, she worked with the Alabama Science in Motion program as an Associate Project Director and physics field specialist. Ms. Ewald develops and coordinates science and math related outreach programs that target the K-12 education community and attract over 10,000 students and teachers each year to the AU campus.
She received a B.S. in Applied Physics and an M.S. in Zoology, both from Auburn University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Secondary Science Education. Mary Lou serves on several boards, including the Board of Directors for the national BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics, Inc. program, and on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Science Teachers Association as the Outreach Representative. She also serves on the executive steering committees of the AU WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Institute and the Society of Women in Science and Mathematics.

K-12 program design and development; developing teacher training workshops, conferences, and institutes; robotics programs in STEM education.
