I served as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow during the 2007-2008 school year in the Office of International Science and Engineering at the National Science Foundation. I've been a classroom teacher for 30 years, with experience in middle school science and math, K-12 Special Education and regular 5th grade. Currently a district-wide science resource teacher for the Lincoln County Schools in Newport, Oregon, I am also the project Director for the newly funded, OCAMP state Math Science Partnership grant with Oregon State University, as well as Project Director for an Oregon Mentor Project grant. I have completed my 3rd year conducting research with scientists at Sandia National Labs as a Department of Energy Academies Creating Teacher Scientists Fellow. I will am also a Master Teacher for a new cohort of Fellows. In addition, I review journal articles for NSTA's middle level journal, Science Scope and am a certified Baldrige Classroom Learning Systems trainer for my district. I have a BA in Psychology from UCLA and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University.
