Thomas Dick

Oregon Mathematics Leadership Institute Partnership (PI)

BIO:
Dick's research interests include the study of factors related to mathematics achievement and participation, gender differences and affective factors in the learning of mathematics, spatial visualization, and cognitive science as applied to the learning of advanced mathematics. Dick is currently investigating the effects of the use of technology on the learning of college calculus, and he has worked extensively in the calculus curriculum reform movement. He serves on the joint AMS/MAA Committee on Research in Undergraduate Mathematics Education, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Research Advisory Committee, and on the Advanced Placement Calculus Development Committee. He is a co-editor of Connecting Research to Teaching for NCTM's Mathematics Teacher journal and is an associate editor for School Science and Mathematics.
