Dianne DeMille

BIO:
Dianne DeMille has been Coordinator of Mathematics for the Orange County Department of Education since 1992. Her experience as a mathematics educator began with 23 years secondary mathematics teaching. She coordinates ongoing professional development for mathematics, assessment, professional learning communities, analysis and comparative study of achievement data and quality evaluation, district and site development with emphasis on mathematics instruction to meet the needs of all learners (stressing increasing achievement for English Language Learners and Hispanic students). Training and mentoring administrators, coaches, and teacher leaders, in partnership with Dr. Timothy Kanold (NCSM President and Superintendent, Adlai Stevenson HS, Chicago IL) for the development of skills that will enhance, facilitate, and sustain learning at specific sites with multi-sensory learning of mathematics for diverse populations adds to her work. Dr. DeMille has also developed and implemented the Secondary Academy of Excellence for reading in the content areas - mathematics, social science, science, and language arts with distinguished national authors and presenters for teachers in Orange County schools. She coordinated, authored, and presented for Essential Mathematics and BrainX online diagnostics and standards-based mathematics lessons; as well as mathematics projects and institutes for various staff development.

Dr. DeMille has presented at various conferences including: National (NSF, NCTM, NCSM), State (CMC, CERA, CLHS, CLAS, GSE, Asilomar Symposium, Professional Development Conference), County (OCMC, Academy of Excellence, MATH A, MATH B, TASEL-M, School Boards Association), and District levels. She has served on committees as Conference Chair for Orange County Mathematics Conference, Printing Chair and Featured Speakers Chair for California Mathematics Council - Southern Section, Program Chair for Los Angeles County Framework Conference, and Planning Committee for the Asilomar Leadership Symposium.

Dianne was the State Coordinator for the Golden State Exam (GSE) - Mathematics Development Teams and served as a Reviewer, Chief Reader for scoring. She served on the CLAS (California Learning Assessment System): Mathematics Assessment Development Team (MADT) and the Performance Levels Task Force, as well as a scorer, table leader, chief reader, and California Dept. of Education representative for scoring sites. Her work includes several projects for California Department of Education as a committee member and presenter for state projects including: the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) Panel Member, Professional Development, District, Parent, Teacher, Student Guides, Remediation Guide, School Boards Association - Keynote Speaker, California High School Exit Exam; California Distinguished School Awards and Blue Ribbon Awards Reviewer and chairperson, and Reviewed and Approved - Local Assessments.


Dr. DeMille has served as a Professor for the Masters Action Research Project Courses for University of Phoenix, Online since 2001.
