Event: Conference on Universal Design for STEM Education

Anyone with an interest in Universal Design for Learning in K-16 STEM education in invited to attend.

Description:
The theme of learning differences and science education will be explored on 29 April 2005 in a conference on universal design (UD) for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. The conference will bring together leading experts in UD, including those with an interest in K-16 science education. Keynote speakers are David Rose and Thomas West. Rose is founder and co-executive director of the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST). West is an author affiliated with the Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study at George Mason University.

Note: This is a follow-up conference to The 5th Annual Leadership Initiative in Science Education (LISE 5)
Discovery in Our Classrooms: Inquiry and the Nature of Science, which is being held on April 27-28 in the same location.

Registration
The LISE 5 conference fee is $40, which includes dinner on 27 April and lunch on 28 April. This fee may be waived under special circumstances. Anyone wishing to attend only the workshop, dinner, and opening address on 27 April (see attached agenda) may do so free of charge, but you must register. The UD conference is also free, but registration is required. Complete the attached registration form and mail it by 15 April to Don McKinney at the above address, or fax it to 215-925-1954, or e-mail it to donm@chemheritage.org. You may also register online at www.chemheritage.org; click on "Events & Activities" then select "LISE 5" or "Universal Design Conference" from the "Event Name" menu. Business casual dress is appropriate for both conferences.
