Event: STEM Research Designs: Conceptual and Practical Considerations for Planning Experimental Studies

Oct 12, 2007
9:30 AM - 4:00 PM Eastern

Arlington, VA

The Math-Science Partnerships and other NSF programs are increasingly encouraging investigators to design their studies to allow causal conclusions about project impact. The purpose of this one-day workshop is to help participants plan, improve, or troubleshoot their research designs, particularly in large-scale projects such as MSP Partnerships. The workshop is intended to help participants improve their short-term research programs; equally important it will help build capacity to implement these designs in the STEM education research community.

The workshop will feature Robert F. Boruch (University of Pennsylvania) and James S. Kim (Harvard University) as well as PIs from the MSP and other NSF programs. In addition, a number of NSF program officers will participate in the workshop. While anyone could profit from this workshop, principal investigators, evaluators, or other project staff involved in designing research would be most appropriate.

The workshop will be limited to 50 participants. There are no registration costs. Travel and lodging expenses will be paid by the conference attendees.
