Event: Workshop: Challenging Courses and Curricula

Apr 17, 2005
Apr 19, 2005

National Academies Keck Center, Washington, D.C.

All MSPs are invited to attend.

You are invited!

All MSPs are invited to send participants to a new two-part series of workshops on "Challenging Courses and Curricula." The two workshops being planned for April 17-19 and September 25-27, 2005 will build on the insights and expertise from previous NRC workshops on student learning, assessment of learning, teacher education, and the role of higher education in MSPs, the January 2005 Learning Community Conference in Washington, DC, and the dialog that has begun within the MSP learning community on MSPNet . These two workshops on Challenging Courses and Curricula will be integrated such that the discussions at the second workshop in September 2005 will build upon the first workshop in April 2005 and ensuing discussion on MSPNet.

Participants at both of these workshops will have an opportunity to help their projects and the larger MSP community think more deeply about the characteristics of challenging courses and curricula in mathematics and science. Aided by experts and skilled facilitators, participants at the April 17-19 workshop will build a framework for examining challenging courses and curricula and develop strategies for applying the frameworks to their projects.

Goals and objectives for these workshops, registration forms, and a preliminary agenda for both the April and September workshops (contained in one document) can be found at the website:

We look forward to seeing you there! Please share this announcement with others in your MSP.
