Job Announcement: DRL Program Directors

The Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL) announces a nationwide search for a number of Program Director positions at the National Science Foundation (NSF). This is a new Division that combines staff and programs previously under the Division of Research, Evaluation, and Communication (REC) and the Division of Elementary, Secondary, and Informal Education (ESIE). Two types of positions are posted. One type are temporary appointments made under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) and are usually made for one year and may be extended for an additional year by mutual agreement. Four permanent positions are also posted.

NSF Program Directors bear the primary responsibility for carrying out the Agency's overall mission: to support innovative and merit-reviewed projects in the basic research and education that contribute to the nation's technical strength, security, and welfare. To discharge this responsibility requires not only knowledge in the appropriate disciplines (science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and STEM education) but also a commitment to high standards, a considerable breadth of interest in and receptivity to new ideas, a strong sense of fairness, good judgment, and a high degree of personal integrity.
