Job Opening: Asst. Professor Science Education

The Department of Education, Arcadia University invites applications for a for a tenure-track position in the area of Science Education at the Assistant Professor rank, effective Fall 2006. The position requires an earned doctorate or ABD with expected completion before September 2006 in Science Education or Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in science education. Applicants must have evidence of at least 3 years of successful teaching of science at the secondary level, promise or record of scholarly contributions to the field, and evidence of successful teaching in higher education. Responsibilities include coordinating and teaching in the master's degree and certification programs in science education. In addition, the candidate will be involved in curriculum development and professional development activities for teachers in local school districts. The position also requires that the candidate collaborate with colleagues in the sciences across the university and work with a team of faculty responsible for training elementary and middle school teachers. The Education Department offers certification in 20 areas, and services school districts in Philadelphia and surrounding suburban counties.
