Center for Education Policy Research at the Harvard Graduate School of Education Seeking Math Coaches

The Center for Education Policy Research at the Harvard Graduate School of Education is seeking to hire and train individuals interested in coaching mathematics instruction (grades 3-8) using the Mathematical Quality of Instruction (MQI) instrument. Coaches will gain experience with the MQI by first scoring video lessons. This work allows for a great deal of flexibility because scoring can be done remotely via a web-based platform during your own time. We ask that applicants be able to commit to working approximately 10 to 20 hours per week. This work starts in mid-March and is expected to last through the summer. Select coaches will then have the opportunity to participate in an MQI coaching project beginning in August and continuing at least through spring 2015. Coaches will be asked to commit to working with 3-4 individual teachers, meeting remotely with each teacher 15 times during the 2014-2015 school year. Qualified applicants must be excellent communicators, organized, and able to work independently. Expertise either with mathematics content or prior experience teaching / leading professional development / coaching teachers is required. If you are interested, please submit a resume and brief cover letter to Fallon Blossom (fallon_blossom@gse.harvard.edu). Feel free to email Fallon with any questions about the project. We aim to hire several coaches so please feel free to circulate this announcement to anyone you think may be interested.
