Morale matters: when teachers feel good about their work, student achievement rises

Abstract

The American School Board Journal is a source of interesting discussion and
news about trends in education from an important perspective. Recent
issues have discussed the quality of textbooks, different models of middle-school reform, and high-school hazing and other violence in schools. Articles and features also deal with governance, parent and community issues, and school law. The featured article this week is from their regular column on educational research, and views teacher morale in its systemic context:
"Where teacher morale is morale sinks, achievement drops and other problems come to the surface?. more important, teachers with unhealthy attitudes often are a symptom of an unhealthy school organization."
