What Do We Mean by Results? Charting the Course of Student Growth

Abstract

In this paper from the February 2000 issue of Educational Leadership, authors Dennie Palmer Wolf and Ann Marie White discuss student achievement and standards-based reform. The authors focus on assessment measures that take into account students' growth and problem-solving skills, arguing that "to be truly effective, assessments must not only measure the current achievement levels of students, but they must also monitor and report on student achievement over time."
