Lessons Learned: Integrating Computer Science in the Elementary Day

This video will present the Time for CS: Elementary curriculum development and research project, funded through a National Science Foundation (NSF) STEM+Computing Partnership Exploratory Integration grant and awarded to Broward County Public Schools, Florida. The purpose of the project was to develop a model for the integration of STEM and computer science in the elementary day and to test the effectiveness of STEM Problem-based Learning (PBL) units that integrate computer science in grades 3-5. Research findings will be presented as well as lessons learned from our work in CS curriculum development, CS professional development, CS school and teacher support, as well as the barriers/challenges and successes of CS integration at the elementary level.
