Math Focus Meeting Observation Protocol


The purpose of this protocol is to facilitate observations of MPS school-based meetings that focus on mathematics. These meetings vary by type and might include professional development sessions, learning team meetings, math department or committee meetings, grade-level team meetings, and other types of school based meetings where math is the focus. These observations are one part of an extensive study of MPS schools being undertaken as part of the evaluation of the Milwaukee Mathematics Partnership (MMP) being funded by the National Science Foundation.

Two domains are addressed in this protocol-(1) overall team functioning and (2) mathematics-related issues. For each domain, there are several underlying concepts that represent that domain. For each concept, 3-5 indicators are listed that are representative of each concept. For each concept area, provide a rating and comments to support your rating. In addition, a summary rating for each domain is requested.
