A National Crisis in Teacher Education: What Are the Costs?

Abstract

"Due to the enormous costs associated with teacher attrition, combined with
massive projected teacher shortages, it is imperative that school districts design and fund teacher induction and mentorship programs targeted to support and keep effective teachers in the classroom. Empirical support provides documentation that these programs are effective in the retention of teachers, cost-effective, and educationally sound."
