Policy Update: House Releases Draft NCLB Plan
"With guidelines for calculating Annual Yearly Progress and how to intervene with poor-performing schools, the House education committee has released its draft plan for the No Child Left Behind Act. Feedback from educators is encouraged. Specifically, the draft proposes a 15-state pilot program permitting districts to create their own AYP-aligned assessments. Assuming this pilot proved successful, the U.S. Department of Education could authorize expanding it to other states. Other recommendations include creating targeting systems for schools and establishing a maximum "N" size."
