Focus on Mathematics is committed to professional development in accessible mathematics for all teachers. Therefore, this summer's institutes explore the mathematical topics of number, algebra, and geometry, topics that transcend grade level. We have designed these institutes so that elementary and secondary teachers will find these topics engaging, interesting, relevant, and accessible. Teachers will be able to see how mathematical ideas arise at various grade levels, and how those ideas develop as students move through the grades.
Three Modules are offered: Each institute looks at the core ideas within each foundational topic, and reflects on the development of these big ideas throughout the curriculum. Little by way of background is assumed, but we promise new and elegant results every day!
