NSDL Middle School Portal

Description

The Middle School Portal, funded by a grant to the Ohio State
University, Columbus, from the National Science Digital Library, is
both a digital library and a source of original material for math and
science teachers. As a digital library it catalogs middle school
resources from the thousands of web sites now offering instructional
materials. Teachers are assured of finding carefully reviewed sites
in the Middle School Portal subject lists.

A team of math and science specialists draws on the Middle School
Portal collection to develop publications focused on teaching
specific units. Also part of the Portal web site, a series of one-page publications called Quick Takes gives teachers three or four "just in time"
resources on topics found in the middle school math curriculum. Quick
Takes are available on such topics as graphing, word problems,
fractions, and math games.
