"Middle school students are learning more than angles in math class.
For the past three years, the city's schools have taken part in Focus on Math, a program funded by the National Science Foundation that partners teachers and mathematicians from Boston University, Education Development Center, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
"We felt students would benefit from it by working with real mathematicians who come to their school and instill a sense of love for math in them," said Donna Chevaire, district math principal for city schools."
